Site information

Batley

Fox's Biscuits are headquartered outside Batley town centre which is approximately 12 miles from Leeds and we have been at this site since 1927.

The Batley site is where most product development and many of the more complex production processes take place.

Kirkham

The Kirkham manufacturing site is situated just off Junction 3 M55, midway between Preston and Blackpool on the Fylde Coast.

The facility is a high volume manufacturing site producing Fox's bigger branded lines, such as Rocky, with some significant Private Label activity as well. The site employs approximately 500 people.

The site was originally the Phoenix cotton mill and was converted to a biscuit business by Parkinson's in 1957. The Parkinson's business was bought by Fox's in 1966 and in the late 1980's and early 1990's the site underwent a complete rebuild and refurbishment to make Kirkham what it is today; a modern, purpose built, high volume and highly efficient biscuit factory.

Substantial capital investment has continued in recent years not just in equipment and facilities but also into development of its employees. As a result the site is proud of its record of high performance; the highest quality biscuits made to World Class standards of efficiency through the expertise and efforts of the whole workforce.

Uttoxeter

Fox's Uttoxeter is situated just off the A50 in Staffordshire roughly between Stoke and Derby and makes private label biscuits for the major retailers as well as its own Elkes branded products.

In 1924 Samuel Elkes opened a small teacake shop at No.1 High Street, Uttoxeter. The family business grew and prospered and by 1928 a small factory had been opened on the Dove Valley Bakeries site.

Elkes was to remain a family concern for nearly fifty years until 1973 when the factory was sold to the Adams Food Group, a subsidiary of the Irish Dairy Board.

In 1986 the business was sold to Northern Foods plc. Since that takeover, Elkes saw a period of sustained change. Staff numbers rose, twenty-four hour and weekend production was introduced and significant increases in biscuit output was achieved.

In 1996 Elkes opened a new distribution centre on the outskirts of the town, freeing space on the Dove Valley site for future development and in 1998 / 1999 a significant investment was made to provide an improved manufacturing facility for variety packs and cream biscuits.

In November 2003 Elkes merged with the Fox's Biscuits sites in Batley and Kirkham. This combined company trades under the name of Fox's Biscuits with its head office function based at the Batley site.

In January 2004 Elkes took on its new identity of Fox's Biscuits.
